  • Effective Friday, October 19, 2012, NASDAQ OMX will begin disseminating the following new indexes on the Global Index Data ServiceSM (GIDSSM).
  • NASDAQ-100 3x Inverse Index (Symbol: NDXS3)
  • NASDAQ-100 3x Inverse Total Return Index (Symbol: XNDXS3)
  • NASDAQ-100 3x Leveraged Index (Symbol: NDXL3)
  • NASDAQ-100 3x Leveraged Notational Net Return Index (Symbol: XNDXNNRL3)

What are the new indexes?

The NASDAQ-100 3x Inverse Index has been constructed with the objective of creating an index to reflect a strategy that aims to produce three times the inverse daily return of the "Underlying Index," with borrowing costs embedded in the performance of the Index. The Index is made up of the combination of an investment aiming to replicate a short position on the Underlying Index with a short exposure and borrowing at a given rate.

The NASDAQ-100 3x Leveraged Index has been constructed with the objective of creating an index to reflect a strategy that aims to produce three times the daily return of the "Underlying Index," with financing costs embedded in the performance of the Index. The Index is made up of the combination of an investment aiming to replicate a long position on the Underlying Index with an increased exposure and borrowing at a given interest rate.

How will the indexes be disseminated in GIDS 2.0?

Effective Friday, October 19, 2012, data recipients will receive real-time Index information from the proprietary GIDS 2.0 data feed.

NASDAQ OMX will identify this index via the following data elements in GIDS 2.0:

  • Index Directory (Message Type R): Disseminated at the start of each day to relay basic index information.
