What you need to know:

  • Effective Tuesday, September 4, 2012, NASDAQ OMX® will populate the Trade Control Number for FINRA/NASDAQ Trade Reporting Facility (TRF) transactions on NASDAQ Last Sale (NLS) and NLS Plus with a Regional Reference Number.
  • Please Note: There are no message format changes to the NLS and NLS Plus data feeds.

What is changing?

At the request of the FINRA/NASDAQ Trade Reporting Facility (TRF), NASDAQ OMX will populate the Trade Control Number field on the NASDAQ Last Sale (NLS) and NLS Plus proprietary data feeds for TRF transactions with a Regional Reference Number beginning Tuesday, September 4, 2012. The Regional Reference Number will be an alphanumeric token assigned by the FINRA/NASDAQ TRF for transaction tracking purposes. The Regional Reference Number will replace the ACT Control Number currently being used for TRF trades on NLS and NLS Plus.

Please Note: The Regional Reference Number will adhere to the defined field format for the Trade Control Number. NASDAQ OMX is only changing its back office processing to populate the field for the September 4th release.

Will testing opportunities be available?

Yes, NASDAQ OMX will offer a User Acceptance Test (UAT) on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Firms that would like to participate in the UAT should contact NASDAQ Trading Services or call +1 212 231 5180.
